Gannet N. White has served as Accountant for the Maine Health & Higher Educational Facilities Authority (MHHEFA) since December 2006. She enjoys her involvement with a very vested and cohesive team, which she enhances with her depth of experience and passion for the program, having served a long tenure as its primary accountant. It is extremely important to Gannet that MHHEFA provides a quality and high-level program for Maine’s healthcare and higher educational institutions. When she became a member of the staff, Gannet brought with her a multi-faceted base of accounting experience, gained from years of employment with both for-profit and not-for-profit entities. Her previous positions provided a broad base of accounting knowledge that spanned accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, budgeting, human resources, general ledger analysis and financial statement preparation. All of this previous experience well-positioned Gannet to be able to flourish and grow in taking on the challenging role of MHHEFA Accountant.
During the year, Gannet constantly coordinates with her team and monitors MHHEFA program activity to determine the financial ramifications and, in turn, the appropriate corresponding accounting actions to employ. She is then charged with timely and accurately recording of transactions, data analysis and assessment to track key results, and preparation of critical spreadsheets, leading to production of both quarterly and year-end financial statements, and their accompanying notes, for the program. Audit season finds Gannet stress-eating donuts and preparing what seems like never-ending spreadsheets! She enjoys the challenges of bond accounting and hopes to continue to build on her knowledge and understanding of the program for many years to come.
When not making sure her debits and credits balance, Gannet enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter playing cribbage, exploring the Maine coast, and organizing, then reorganizing, their tiny, yet cozy home. She loves to help family and friends declutter and organize whatever could use a bit of a “reset.” In her endless quest to “chill” a bit at home, Gannet will often be found on the couch, watching various shows on Netflix, or curling up with a good book in her hands.
